SMPS - April 2013Audition season for this year’s musical is almost here.  On this page, you’ll find a few resources to help you prepare.

If you are interested in an onstage, solo singing role, you will need to prepare one of the songs below.  Please note that you are not only auditioning for one particular role; you will also be considered for other parts and may be asked to prepare another song (in a callback) if we think you might fit better somewhere else. (For example, if you choose to prepare Part of Your World, we may feel that you`d make a terrific Flounder and ask you to prepare She`s In Love as well.)

For singing auditions, you will perform with the instrumental (karaoke) track found below.

There are at least three keys to a successful audition:

  1. Expect your best - Setting high standards for yourself in areas such as pitch and rhythm will help you to perform your very best.
  2. Preparation - Take the time to understand what you`re singing, memorize the song, and stay in character throughout.
  3. Confidence - Be as relaxed as possible, but demonstrate that you have stage presence, and project your voice.
  • Have fun.  This whole process is about having fun, so be proud that you have had the courage to audition, and be excited by the knowledge that you will be part of something special regardless of the role you`re assigned.

To temporarily download a file to your computer, right click and select “Save Target As”.

For more information about the various roles, visit the Audition Central section of the Broadway Jr. website.

Vocal audition sign-ups will be posted on Monday, October 29th.  Select the song you’ll be singing and sign up then. Auditions will begin on Wednesday November 7th.

If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact Mr. Smiles.

Information on acting and dance auditions will be posted soon.

Here is a link to a classic SMPS Musical clip.  It is also a good indication of the level of performance we’re looking for in the auditions.
